Bio (Fun facts edition)
Grew up in Michigan as a Waldorf child and competitive figure skater.
I started dancing at the age 20 while studying architecture and design at Washington University in St. Louis.
My parents said “No” to the dance major, so I ended up graduating in Anthropology… but really studying scientific illustration.
I spent two summers working and living at biological stations in New Mexico and Michigan.
I spent 5 years working as a freelance dancer, choreographer, and fitness instructor in NYC.
I’ve performed in immersive productions with Oddknock (Performing as “Chelsea” in From On High), and Shondaland (performing as “The Queen” in The Queens Ball: A Bridgerton Experience) as well as DevaCurl and Makeup Forever, and dance companies throughout New York City.
In 2018 I received a production space grant from The Tank and produced my first 60-minute, evening-length work.
(also in 2018) I suffered a major injury and could not dance for 8 months. I began assisting the dance photographer Rachel Neville and taking video editing classes.
In 2019 I moved to San Francisco and began working full-time as a dance photographer and videographer while occasionally still performing.
Throughout 2020-2021 I worked with dance companies across the Bay area, successfully turning their dances into films, and in 2022 was awarded a $20,000 Individual Artist Grant from the San Francisco Artist Commission to support the production of my first feature-length dance film.
In 2023, I was awarded a 9-month visiting Artist residency at the Arts Student League of Denver where I explored studio photography and surrealism within the world of dance photography.
In 2024, I received a year-long studio Fellowship with Root Division for my dance photography.
